UGI Announces Project to Accommodate Carlisle Growth

08 May 2018

UGI Utilities, Inc. has begun work on a pipeline construction project that will significantly increase the supply of natural gas for customers in and around the borough of Carlisle. The reinforcement project is designed to accommodate continued growth in the area.

UGI plans to install four miles of new 12-inch protected steel pipeline in the project zone that includes York Road, Forge Road, Westminster Drive and Petersburg Road. The work is expected to be completed by the fall.

The construction associated with this project will occur during various times of the day and night, depending on the phase of the work. While construction is in progress, residents and commuters traveling through the area are asked to follow directions provided by posted signs or signaled by flagmen in the construction zone.

Following the conclusion of this project, UGI will fully restore pavement, sidewalks and affected grass areas as soon as weather and our construction schedule permit. Please contact us regarding any concern you have on restoration that was completed by UGI and its contracted crews after the restoration has been completed.

“UGI recognizes Carlisle residents living in the project area will be inconvenienced during this project. We will work to complete construction in a timely manner,” Robert P. Krieger, vice president of operations, said. “This project is part of UGI’s continuing commitment to provide safe and reliable natural gas service to our customers and our communities. We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we make this long-term system improvement. We also thank municipal officials for their cooperation and assistance in the planning and execution of this project.”
